Bemotrizinol Sunscreen Manufacturing
Bemotrizinol is the first new sunscreen active ingredient the FDA has added to the OTC monograph in over 25 years. It delivers strong broad-spectrum UVA and UVB protection, is highly photostable, has low skin absorption, and leaves no white cast — making it one of the most sought-after filters for next-generation SPF products in the US.
There is a critical manufacturing requirement: under the FDA order, bemotrizinol sprays must be produced without a propellant, or in a container-closure system that keeps the propellant fully isolated from the formulation. Direct propellant-combined aerosol sprays are not permitted.
